What's your favorite stuff to listen to? Lately, I've been stuck on Peter Frampton's new-ish album called "Fingerprints." I love the guitar on it, there is great detail and clarity, and it truly is a treat for the ears.

I just disdain top 40 music nowadays... Hip-Hop and stuff just kills me; I don't even see how it's considered music! Everything seems to sound alike on the radio, and there is hardly anything new or creative. In fact, it seems like record companies repress creativity in favor for cookie-cutter catchy tunes.

Seriously, who listens to Soulja Boy and thinks it's good music? If I want real music, I turn on some Pink Floyd or some Ben Folds or something. The Across the Universe soundtrack was great, as well.

It just seems like the lowest common denominator of top 40 is clubbin, bitches, having sex, doing drugs, being a thug, getting dumped, etc. Why isn't there any real music in the top 40 nowadays?

sigh.

/rant.

I'm with you bro.

They don't make music like they used to. It's all too commercialized these days.

I'll take Pink, Floyd, AC/DC, The Doors or anything else really that came out of the 60's or 70's over any of the crap they put out these days....

I used to listen to alot of hip-hop/rap too... but after Run DMC, NWA, Biggie, Tupac... it just started to all sound the same... whatever sells I guess... Nas is one of my favourite rappers and one of the best of all time IMHO.

Oh and a good Bob Marley song is always nice...

I will admit that a lot of the old rap was actually pretty good, this newer stuff has just ruined rap though.

Most of it is garbage these days...

Who cares how many bitches you have, how many Mercedes are parked in your garage of how much money you wasted on rediculously overpriced champange?

It's just stupid... they have nothing to say worth listening to anymore... it's not "real" rap/hip-hop.

Yeah, older rap is alright. New rap is... noise. It is a brain rotting potion from hell.

I like a lot of 90s alternative... one of my favorite songs of all time is "Closing Time" by Semisonic... very well written and executed song.

Absolutely Smile

I was listening to Five Iron Frenzy the other day. Ska has the ability to make me smile unlike any other type of music.

There's a lot of good music to be found out there. I used to listen to a lot of Metallica, but I grew out of that. I used to love MegaDeth way more than Metallica and loved all of the stuff that came out. I used to listen to a lot of Led Zeppelin too, but that too has died down, and their CD's just sit on my shelf.

I will tell you the music I listen to the most is 80's music (anywhere from late 70's to late 80's and right before the 90's). I'm not a big fan of all the stuff that's been coming out lately in the rock industry and the rap industry, though I will say a lot of the new stuff out for clubs is pretty good.

So these are the things I've been listening to recently:

Kool & The Gang's Light of Worlds
Telepopmusik's Genetic World
Journey's Greatest Hits (I actually have every album they have, lol)
The Cure (Mostly their greatest hits)
Duran Duran
New Order

Oh and some of you may like The Smiths, particularly their biggest hit: How Soon Is Now

And... I also listen to Morrissey... who was originally of The Smiths.

I drove 3 hours today, and jammed to Ben Folds the whole time. Very fun to listen to
